Rosacea is a common condition in which triggers such as sunshine, heat or alcohol often cause a patient’s face, particularly the cheeks, to become red and inflamed, frequently with small pustules. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics and other medications, and determining a patient’s triggers so that they can be avoided. Sunscreen with an SPF 30 is recommended. We treat a wide variety of skin rashes in patients ranging from infants to the elderly. A superficial biopsy is sometimes necessary to diagnose the condition and determine appropriate treatment. This is a simple procedure which can be done in the office on the day of your visit.
